DGC Club Night Sizzles as Okambo Fires 67
Dar es salaam Gymkhana Club (DGC) turned on the style at its latest Club Night on Saturday, August 8, 2026, with golfers producing impressive scores in a highly competitive showdown.
Daniel Okambo stole the show, firing a superb five-under-par 67 nett to emerge as the overall winner of the popular monthly competition sponsored by Spik n Span Ltd.
National team star Victor Joseph claimed Division A honours with an excellent two-under-par 70 nett, while DGC Golf Section Competition Secretary Abid Omari matched the score to win Division B on 70 nett.
Thabit Galia also produced a strong performance to take Division C, finishing on one-under-par 71 nett.
In the Ladies category, Maryanne Mugo emerged victorious with two-over-par 74 nett, adding further colour to an evening that combined strong golfing performances with the club’s trademark social atmosphere.
The remarkable scores reflected the quality of golf on display, with the top performers taking full advantage of the Nane Nane Day to register impressive returns.
The tournament attracted golfers across different handicap levels, providing members with an opportunity to test their skills in competitive conditions while enjoying the relaxed and social atmosphere associated with Saturday Club Night.
DGC Golf Section Competition Secretary Omari said the event has grown into one of the club’s most popular fixtures because it successfully combines competitive golf with social interaction.
“The Club Night is more than just a golf tournament. It is an opportunity for golfers to interact, enjoy quality competition and promote the spirit of the game,” Omari said.
He also thanked Spik n Span Ltd for sponsoring the event, saying the company’s contribution has helped the club maintain the high standards of the monthly competition.
