Nathwani flies Tanzania flag at KAMP Championship

Fresh from successfully defending his Arusha Open title, one of Tanzania's leading amateur golfers Jay Nathwani is set to represent the country at the 2026 NCBA 104th Kenya Amateur Match Play Championship at Limuru Country Club in Kenya.
The 72-hole championship tees off on Thursday, July 30, and runs through August 2, attracting some of the region's and world's amateur golfers.
Nathwani, of Arusha Gymkhana Club, has been drawn alongside Pranay Kapur of Royal Johannesburg Golf Club and Joshua Maina of Windsor Golf Hotel & Country Club in one of the featured groups.
The tournament has attracted players from Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, Rwanda, Burundi, Ethiopia, India, Australia and Bolivia, promising a highly competitive contest.
Players will battle through a demanding match play tournament beginning with 36 holes on Thursday.
The knockout stages start on Friday, with the Round of 32 played in the morning, followed by the Round of 16 in the afternoon.
On Saturday, the competition continues with the Quarterfinals (Round of 8) in the morning and the Semifinals (Round of 4) in the afternoon.
The two finalists will then compete in a 36-hole championship match on Sunday to determine the tournament champion.
Besides battling for the title, competitors will also be chasing valuable World Amateur Golf Ranking (WAGR) points, making the event crucial in the regional and international amateur golf calendar.
Nathwani heads to Kenya in superb form after retaining the Arusha Open crown at Arusha Gymkhana Club on July 19 with a winning gross score of 223 (+7) after rounds of 74, 74 and 75.
He also emphasized the importance of earning ranking points, especially now that he competes less frequently.
Meanwhile, fellow Tanzanian amateur Enosh Wanyeche recently impressed at the 49th NCBA Kenya Amateur Stroke Play Championship, where he made the cut and completed all four rounds at Royal Nairobi Golf Club.
Competing against a world-class field of more than 150 elite amateurs from Africa, Asia and Europe, Wanyeche posted rounds of 77, 81, 82 and 78 to finish tied for 39th on 30-over-par 318 when the championship concluded on July 26.
The Stroke Play Championship was won by Kenya's Jay Sandhu, who defeated Adel Balala in a dramatic three-hole playoff to secure a coveted place at the 2027 Magical Kenya Open.
