Tanzania’s leading female golfers continued to make their mark at the 2026 Uganda Ladies Open Golf Championship, with several players featuring prominently on the leaderboard after the Friday's second round at Uganda Golf Club.
The second round brought a change at the top, as Tanzania’s Neema Olomi surrendered her opening-day lead after posting an 81, nine-over par.
Olomi, who led the opening round by two shots with a gross 75, now sits third at +12, remaining firmly in contention as the championship heads into the final round.

Hawa Wanyeche maintained her strong position near the top of the leaderboard, carding a second consecutive 77 (+5) to sit tied for second at +10.
She is level with Uganda’s Judith Komugisha and four shots behind leader Keisha Kagoro, who leads on +6 after rounds of 78 and 72.
There was also a positive move from Ayne Magombe, Vice President of the Tanzania Ladies Golf Union (TLGU), who improved her position with a 77 (+5) in the second round.
After opening with an 80, Magombe moved into a tie for sixth at +13, keeping Tanzania strongly represented among the leading players.

Other Tanzanian competitors include Vicky Elias, who is currently 10th at +18 (79,83), while Yasmin Chali, former TLGU Honorary Secretary, is 45th at +61 after a 101 (+29).

The latest standings underline Tanzania’s strong showing at this year’s Uganda Open, with Wanyeche, Olomi and Magombe all inside the top six and carrying the country’s hopes into the final round.
The 2026 Uganda Ladies Open Golf Championship, hosted at Uganda Golf Club, runs from August 13 to 15, bringing together golfers from across East Africa and beyond.
With the leaderboard tightly packed at the top, Tanzania’s leading players will be looking to build on their performances in Saturday’s final round and challenge for honours at one of the region’s premier golf events.
