Call for Junior Golf Support in Zanzibar

Golf stakeholders, companies, institutions and individual sports well-wishers have been urged to support the growing junior golf development programme at Sea Cliff Resort and Golf Club in Magapwani, Zanzibar.

Sea Cliff Golf Club Captain Tazio Bercelli made the call as the programme continues to gain momentum, with more than 20 young golfers already registered for the initiative, which aims to introduce children to the sport and develop their skills.

Bercelli said greater support would help create a better environment for the youngsters, while keeping them motivated and excited to learn and improve their golfing abilities.

The participants receive free professional instruction from the club’s golf professional, Stanley Sanga, covering the fundamentals of the game, including swing techniques, putting, golf etiquette and course safety.

He appealed to companies, institutions and individuals to come forward and partner with the programme, stressing that investment in junior golf is vital for nurturing future players and expanding the reach of the sport in Zanzibar.

The initiative forms part of wider efforts to promote and develop golf in Tanzania under the Tanzania Golf Union (TGU), led by Chairman Hon. Gilman Kasiga.

Meanwhile, this Saturday’s scheduled junior golf training session has once again been postponed, with organisers saying a new date will be communicated soon.

The postponement follows a similar cancellation last week after sudden heavy showers affected parts of the Isles.

Organisers apologised for the inconvenience caused by the weather and other circumstances, and wished parents, guardians and the young golfers a good weekend.

Despite the postponements, the programme continues to attract strong interest, with more than 20 young golfers already registered.
