ZANZIBAR,  Saturday

Greg Eayrs claimed the August Golf Challenge at the Sea Cliff Resort & Spa Golf Club of Zanzibar on Saturday, 29 August, producing an impressive 38 Stableford points to take the title.

Eayrs finished two points clear of Club Captain Tazio Bercelli, who carded 36 points to secure the runner-up position.

Kazim Suleiman took third place with 28 points, while Imran Niskala finished fourth on 27 points.

Eayrs completed a memorable day by also winning the Nearest to Pin prize, while Suleiman took the Longest Drive honours.

Club Captain Bercelli thanked all participants and sponsors for contributing to an exciting August Challenge.

"Thanks everyone for joining us today, it was a really lovely afternoon and great fun!

"The course is getting better and better, and hopefully that will motivate more players to join us and make the next tournaments even bigger and better," he noted.

Bercelli also expressed his appreciation to the August Challenge sponsors — Sea Cliff Resort & Spa, Villa Kiva, Zanzi Resort, United Petroleum and Auric Air — for their continued and tireless support of the club’s tournaments.

He said that the August event also provided an important build-up to the prestigious CEO Golf Event, which will be held on Saturday, 26 September 2026.

The CEO Golf Event will be the first edition to be hosted by Bercelli and Club Vice Captain Collins Chemng’orem in their current leadership roles, adding further significance to one of the club’s major events on the annual golfing calendar.

“See you for the CEO Golf Event on Saturday 26th September,” Bercelli said.

The August Challenge followed another strong performance in July, when Patrick O’Rourke won the Sea Cliff Resort & Spa Golf Club of Zanzibar July Monthly Challenge on 25 July.

O’Rourke carded an impressive 39 Stableford points to comfortably top the leaderboard and claim his second monthly challenge trophy of the season, following his victory in the April Challenge.

The competitive monthly series has also seen Chemng’orem win the May Challenge, while Bercelli claimed the June title, underlining the strength and competitiveness of the club’s 2026 season.
