TAZARA @Golden Jubilee Golf Tournament Draw Released Ahead of Sunday Showpiece

The draw for the TAZARA @50th Golden Jubilee Golf Tournament has been officially released, setting the stage for an exciting day of competition at TPDF Lugalo Golf Club in Dar es Salaam on Sunday, July 5, 2026.

The tournament, organized as part of the TAZARA @50th Golden Jubilee celebrations, will be played under the Stableford format, with all groups teeing off from the first hole.

A total of 26 groups have been drawn, with the morning session scheduled to begin at 6:30 a.m. and the afternoon session at 11:40 a.m., according to the draw unveiled by Lugalo Golf Club Vice-Captain Samuel Mosha on Thursday.

The championship has attracted golfers from Tanzania and abroad, underscoring the significance of the event in celebrating five decades of the Tanzania-Zambia Railway Authority (TAZARA).

Among the prominent names in the field are Prof. Wineaster Anderson, General (RTD) George Waitara, host club chairman Maj. Gen. Wilbert Ibuge, Amb. Job Masima and Dr. Edmund Mdolwa.

Also expected to compete are Tanzania Ladies Golf Union (TLGU) president Timea Chogo and vice-president Ayne Magombe.

The opening four-ball will tee off at 6:30 a.m. and features John Kinabo, Muzai Mkumba, Michael Francis and Joseph Sayi. The final group is scheduled to start at 1:30 p.m., comprising Sigrid Urassa, Stephen Chuwalo, Joseph Placid and Abid Omari.

The tournament is one of the flagship sporting events marking the TAZARA @50th Golden Jubilee celebrations, held under the theme "From Liberation to Transformation, 1976–2026." 
“The celebrations commemorate the railway's enduring contribution to regional integration, trade and economic development across Tanzania and Zambia over the past five decades,” said Mosha.

With a strong field of experienced golfers, dignitaries and corporate leaders, spectators can expect a highly competitive day of golf as players battle for top honours in a tournament that blends sporting excellence with the celebration of one of Africa's most iconic infrastructure projects.
